Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives!!!

I'm a sucker for the Food Network, specifically Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef America and ... Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. Hosted by Guy Fieri--a man perpetually sunburned and often inexplicably wearing sunglasses on the back of his head (you know the look)--the show features mostly family-owned joints serving "off the hook" comfort food and greasy spoon favorites. Well folks, Guy is coming to town to profile Pat's Barbecue! In conjunction with the local BBQ spot's sixth anniversary, the show will tape twice on May 5 and May 9, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Get in on the festivities and support Pat's!

  1. Joanna from Philadelphia said they were also going to her place of business, Moochies, and she also thought they were stopping into the Blue Plate diner.

  2. I'd never heard of Pat's, thanks Jamie.

Good food is all over SL, I keep hearing of LA 35, 1500 W 3500 S, does anyone have a first hand experience? Review, please.

  3. I enjoy Guy and his style, but this show irritates me -- when it started, it was about places that were fun and had good food. Now, it's just episode after episode of "look how big the portions are!" Any idiot can make big -- how about we go back to focusing on good. We now see things like obese slobs ordering pancakes large enough to feed a family for a week, stuffing themselves into numbness and then throwing most of the food away. I think our kids can do without either message.

  8. I just saw Guy Fieri at Moochies, around 11:45, with his small crew. Looks like he enjoyed his Philly.

  9. I do enjoy this show, however it's rather hard to watch seeing I'm on a strict diet.

  10. Hey in response to the person asking about LS 35 - it is great! I mean great! My husband is from LA and says that there is hardly any mexican fare here that holds a candle to there and he LOVED la 35. Don't be put off by the locaation or set up - neither are fab- but the food is worth it and SOOOO inexpensive- I would say cheap but that would suggest poor quality which it wasn't

    Hope that helps
