The Trolley Report

[Film] Your art house options have officially been reduced: Regency Theatres' Lyndon Golin confirmed today that effective immediately, the Trolley Square theater has shuttered two of its four screens, and the theater will close entirely effective the end of January. Not even regular sold-out showings of Juno were able to save the struggling theater from a rough overall year for independent film at the box office. That leaves the Salt Lake Film Society's Broadway Centre and Tower Theatre as the remaining downtown locations for non-Hollywood fare. (Scott Renshaw)

  1. Sad! How do we get the indie theaters we need in this city/county? It's obviously a growing genre, with mainstream studios branching out with their own indie labels...Will anyone ever take the chance to build another indie film venue?...anyone?
