Time to Toast!

[Booze Birthday] Today marks the 75th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition in the USA. Seems to me that calls for a toast.

Cheers! Salut! Zivjeli! Skaal! Prost! Sanon! Ba'sal'a'ma'ti! A votre sante! Jamas! L'chaim! Tos! Cin cin! Kampai! Chukbae! Sanitas bona! Salud! Sanda bashi! Mabuhay! Na zdrowie! Auguryo! Choc-tee! Djam! Hoshe! Chia!

Sorry for you folks in Quatar; no booze for yooz. (Ted Scheffler)

  1. We folks in the Quarter (that is; the French Quarter of New Orleans) will continue our toasting. When is Ted going to return here for his survey of unique New Orleans' eateries that don't get featured in any other publication?

  2. Apparently Utah was the final state to push the ratification over the state requirements. Weird...

  3. Utah was the 36th state to ratify the 21st amendment, on Dec. 5, 1933, giving the measure the necessary three-fourths majority of states' approval. Prohibition became law in 1919. It remains the only constitutional amendment to be repealed.

  4. This is only one of the many reasons I am proud to be a Utahan.
