[News] What does it say about Salt Lake City that, over the weekend, an anti-war protest at Washington Square had slightly more attendees than the event (?) of a new bridge being moved into place on I-215? The latter enjoyed the same amount of media coverage and reportedly even had a ... VIP area. If all the slack-jawed yokels, er, bridge aficionados were at 4500 South and I-215, who was left to stand outside KUTV 2's Main Street studio and wave like idiots, uh, TV anchor connoisseurs this weekend? Priorities, people! (Bill Frost)

Lost Weekend
[Event Re-Planning] Sadly, this weekend's Utah Brewers Festival at the Gallivan Center has been canceled due to "imminent bad weather," so adjust your beer-drinking plans accordingly. Good thing no local corporate "indie" publications bought a sponsorship and dedicated several pages of ass-kissing ad-copy "journalism" and a front cover to the event ... oh, what? Never mind. Also, X96's annual Big Ass Show has been moved from the Utah State Fairpark to the indoor environs of the Salt Palace, because there's nothing sadder than emo band getting rained on—the mascara runs, they can't see the chord numbers the roadies taped to their guitar necks, etc.
Tonight, maybe take a State Street tour and check out Sound of Urchin at Burt's Tiki Lounge and The Saddle Tramps one block north at the Bar Deluxe. Tomorrow night, all of us in the office are compelled to attend City Weekly's own Linsday Larkin's birthday bash at Orange (533 S. 500 West) or forever sleep with one eye open. Join us, won't you?
